Using WebChess to play a game

WebChess has an easy to learn but still powerfull interface. Here youll see how things can be done.

After you have logged into webchess you will get a window opened and this is what it looks like:

This is a screenshot from WebChess you can see what the guest that calls himself "GuestDober" sees. As you can see there is two other persons logged in at the moment (called "robert" and "GuestNike"). The list that shows who are logged in is updated as quick as someone enters/leaves.

challenging

to get a game going you choose the person(s) you want to play with then click on the button [challenge]. Here GuestDober wants to challenge both robert and GuestNike so he selects them in the list and press [challenge] It will look something like this.

Each of the challenged persons will now get a dialog which asks them if they want to play with me (GuestDober that is in this example).

hiding

If you play several games at ones and dont want to be challenged for more games you can hide yourself. This option desnt work for guests. What this means is that no one will se you but messages (including game-moves) directed to you will get to you.

Information

When you want to check up a person you select him (or them) and click on [Info]. This will give you some information on the person in question like

Messanging

If you want to talk to a person you select thoose you want to tell something and click on [Message]. You will now get a window where you can type a message in a textarea and it has two buttons

Server information

This buttons sends out a request to the server about some information. this information includes

Loging out

If you click on [logout] you will quit(surrender) all your game and say goodbye to the server.

Gameplay

When you have challenged a user and they have accepted your challange you will get a new window that looks like this:

Here you can see several important things.

In the middle of a game

It can look something like this:

As we see here it is black's(mine in this game) turn to make a move. We see here that black has selected the horse on f6 to move (the yellow mark).

History

If you want to look through how the game was played you can doubleclick on a move in the movelist and you will see how the board looked after that move. You will get a new window with a chessboard and a few buttons in it.
