Biography

I was born 1960 in Ångermanland, a province of Sweden, and grow up as the oldest of five children. We lived close by the river Ångermanälven, nearby a small village, Sandslån. Closest city was Kramfors. But in spite of this rural setting I feel at home here in the middle of Stockholm.

My father and mother are still living up north, and it's a nice time to clear out occasionally, to relax and enjoy the nature of Ådalen. Or take a trip out to Höga kusten (the High Coast), with its unique coast line. Fishing, picking wild berries or mushrooming is soothing the soul.

After completing the compulsory school I began studying mechanical engineering at senior high school. Supplemented with subjects of natural science and graduated. Some varying employments later it so happened that I settled in Stockholm. Merely as a trainee for a sixth month period. In 1984. So, it became quite a few months more ;-) But I have enjoyed my time every minute.

My family

Besides the studies at KTH, I try to have fun with my family. We are a family of four: two kids, my wife and myself.

My wife, Ingeborg, and myself met during Christmas holidays 1986 and I immidiately fell for her. We spent more and more time together and got married a good year later, in January 1988.

Lucas was born in the spring 1991 and is now attending his sixth year of the compulsory school at Högalidsskolan, Södermalm. He's good at drawings and paintings, like his mother, but math is his favourite class at the moment, and he plays the guitar. His favourite occupation is reading, video- and computer games.

Felix, on the other hand, was born in December 1994, a cocksure chap. He attends his third year in school and like that a lot. He is fond of giving a hand at home, often coming up with things (even playing tricks) and he is in constant motion. Right now he is learning to play the saxophone.

Interests

I like reading, relaxing with close friends and good food and drink. Furthermore two interests have remained alive over the years: computing of course, and a spiritual interest.

To read is as traveling foreign places or as an expedition in one's life. Ideas, dreams and impulses coming from literature are of course influenting parts of life and outlook on life. Simultaneously, reading gives insight and knowledge on topics of wide spectra.

I read almost everything except pulp fiction, the topics cover anything from novels to good science fiction, from detective stories to cookbooks, not to forget magazines and electronic medias.

Computers

As early as at senior high school, 1977, I were hacking a mini computer they had. A terminal station using punched tapes. The language was BASIC, and then I'm talking about "BASIC", and not that stuff they're using now-a-days.

A few years later we used the Swedish ABC-machines. And after them those beige Ericsson. Mmmm, those were the days. But years passed and my attention was moving around. The interest in computers was there but not that hot and the level of nerdness not too high.

But for some reason I decided to earn myself a Master of Science, and so I competed for the computer science programme at KTH (the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden). Now the level of nerdness has indeed increased i few degrees.

Religion

I am brought up in a Christian home, so that being interested in religion and practising it might seem natural in some ways. Yes and no, it wasn't to me. At least, not all of the time. I decided myself twice, you might say. First at the end of my teenage years, and then, after a period of deep reflection and meditation, when I was 24 years old. Now I am associated with a Christian congregation and am taking an active part in its activities, along with my family.

Being Christian today isn't always that easy, especially in the dechristianized Sweden. But on the other hand, it's not boring either. I enjoy curiosity, questions and discussions held with an open mind. On the contrary, it bores me listening to people prejudiced they do know, but ...

I don't believe that we, human beings, do know everything. Could we then, you and me, decidedly deny God's existence? Or could we instantly judge some men by their faith? And why is it so, that those never investigated these topics are the ones having the most peremptory opinions? When they really don't know?
