TI92 Hardware
Not much here yet since hardware is not something I know a lot about. Just
watned to mention some interesting things and ideas:
Memory
There's a discussion going on the Fargo-Mailinglist about upgrading memory.
Has anyone tried this yet? Just a piece of advice; Fargo will propably not
work in it's current version after successfully upgrading memory, since
Fargo-backups relies on the fact that memory wraps around at adress $20000
(where it seems like the extra memory will be placed).
CPU Upgrade
Personally, I dont think this is possible, but go ahead, keep trying. As
for the claims that the TI92 CPU would be a 68020 running 16mhz - Sounds
pretty incredible. I'll get back to you on that after doing some tests.
Cassette Saving
I have one interesting idea; Wouldn't it be possible to construct a small
device with an A/D and a D/A converter that could read/write to a cassette
recorder through the IO-port, just like the old 8-bit machines (Spectrum &
C64)? This way, you could put Fargo programs on tape and load them through
your Walkman.
Even cooler would be to have a PIC or something in the device that could
fool the TI92 ROM into receiving a Backup, so you could reinstall Fargo
after crashes without access to a computer.
